MEET THE MAKER
I grew up in the prairies of Manitoba, Canada, surrounded by endless skies and wheat fields. After marrying the love of my life I moved to his hometown of Nürnberg, Germany. I began sewing as a child, but hated following patterns and rarely finished a sewing project. After sewing dozens of little bags to hold our wedding favours, I became comfortable with using sewing machines and began to discover the beauty involved in creating unique items out of fabric and thread.
I received a second-hand sewing machine from a friend upon arriving in Germany and began to experiment more with various fabrics, trying out new patterns and ideas. I began incorporating leather on my projects and loved the natural way it made an otherwise boring piece more beautiful and durable. It was inevitable that leather quickly became my favourite material to work with. Many failed experiments and ruined pieces of leather later, I've developed a style of functional bags for every day use that are feminine, but not frilly.
